A COUPLE are lobbying Tony Blair after a driver who knocked down and killed their son escaped a jail term
Carol and Peter Living feel the justice system has failed them after Marek Tomi. 23, was given community service, a £100 fine and a two year driving ban after knocking John, 30, off his motorbike and killing him instantly
They feel Tomi should have gone to prison and are starting a petition to give to Tony Blair, demanding the Government toughens up the laws for driving offences which cause death.
Mrs Living, 49, of Eglinton Road, Woolwich, said: "What a farce. One hundred pounds for my son's life. It's not what we wanted.
"John was worth gold to us, he was priceless.
"He was a gentle giant and you never saw him without a smile.
"We are all stunned and feel like we have lost him again. We are reliving the nightmare.
"This man will be back on the
road and we're going to have
Carol and Peter Living and (inset) their son John who was
killed while riding his motorbike
to live with this pain for the
rest of our lives."
The mother-of-two added: "We will write to Tony Blair and let him know those who kill people on the road should go to prison.
"This could happen to anyone and everyone in the borough should know."
John was riding his bike in Ramsgate Road, Margate, last October.
Tomi, driving a blue Ford Mondeo, cut into his lane, knocking him off his yellow Triumph motorbike.
Tomi, of Ethelbert Crescent, Clifton-
ville, was charged with careless driving.
The machine operator, aged 23, pleaded guilty and was sentenced at Margate
Magistrates' Court last Tuesday.
